Details

EasyCoper® Crown Molding Coping Jig

This coping jig makes quick work of cutting accurate coped joints.

Professional carpenters use coped cuts to install base molding, char rails and the like. The coped cuts allow for easier installation than trying to install perfect angled miter cuts because the length of the boards need not be perfect. In an angled miter cut installation, if the length is off even a small amount, the error will be shown in the joint.

FEATURES:

  • The large flat end surface is beveled so that you can follow the profile at the perfect relief angle,
  • The wide jig opening provides ample visibility for accurate cuts.
  • Designed to cope crown moldings with a 52/38 degree spring angle (the most common) but includes instructions for use with 45 degree crown as well
  • Includes both left and right profile jigs

INSTALLATION:

  1. Screw plates to a solid flat work surface with a slight overhang to allow clearance for the jig saw blade as it cuts the coped joint.
  2. The width of the work surface should be about the same as the jig to allow easy reach for clamps.
  3. Some attach the coping jig to a board long enough to be used with saw horses.

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. Cut a miter joint in the molding according to the crown molding angle.
  2. Place the molding in the guide, face up.
  3. Use your jig saw like a coping saw to remove the waste material by following the molding profile exposed by the miter cut.
  4. As you approach the end of the cut, slide the molding to the opposite end of the jig to prevent cutting into the jig.

Made in the USA.
