When selecting hinges bear in mind that we sell “00”, “08”, and “15” cranking hinges and “00”, “02”, and “04” Plate Heights. Changes in door overlay are accomplished by selecting the appropriate hinge and by matching up the corresponding mounting plate. It is important to understand that the terms full overlay, half overlay etc. are relative terms, not absolute dimensions. They are helpful, however, in understanding the look of the finished project.
Using the information on the previous pages as a guide, decide how much you want your hinges to overlay the cabinet carcass or whether you want an inset application, then see the information in the chart below to determine the swing of your doors. When you’ve made your decision, use the table to select your hinges and mounting plates.
The (DBE) Distance Between Edge dimension represents the distance from the edge of the hinge cup hole to the edge of the door. It will always be 5mm. Add 17.5mm for 35mm hinge cups (or the hinge cup radius) to this dimension to locate the center of the cup hole before drilling. It is recommended that you use the metric dimensions when using “Euro” hardware because it eliminates the need for mathematical conversions and reduces possibility of error. For those of you who want to make the conversions multiply the metric dimensions by .039375 or divide them by 25.4. The result is the same.
