Product Information

These High Tech screws are designed specifically for the really tough jobs, like seaside dock construction, or for uses in places where you really need to depend on the fastener because access after installation will be difficult. The 5/16" hex drive makes them easy to drive (although magnetic holders are quite useless with stainless), while the strange looking “lobed” thread design helps them power through big pressure treated posts and beams easily. Select a screw that is approximately 2"to 2-1/2" longer than the thickness of the material you are fastening through for best results. Pre-drilling is ordinarily not required for these screws unless the material is exceptionally hard. Pre-drilling is advised for installation within 1-1/2" of the end of a board. These screws have an unthreaded shank diameter slightly over 3/16" diameter and 2-1/2" of threads. The head measures approximately 7/16"diameter, providing plenty of bearing area. Made in Taiwan.

Comments about #14 x 6'' 316 Stainless Steel Hex Drive Screws:

I used these screws to fasten 2x6 treated boards on edge for the top of a pergola style swing. I notched the 2x6 stock 1.5 inches deep so the 6 inch screws worked well. Past experience with some stainless fasteners twisting off prompted me to drill pilot holes through the 2x6's. The screws bit into the 2x10 supports with no failures. I am pleased with their performance. Time will tell on the corrosion resistance.
