Hurricane Stainless Steel Stud Kit

Product Information

These stainless steel studs (hanger bolts) have wood-screw threads at one end, machine threads at the other, and a special hex head to make installation easy using a driver / drill. Simply layout the stud locations on the masonry or wood wall, transfer them to the plywood storm shutter, then drill 3/8" clearance holes through the plywood at the anchor locations.

If installing on a masonry home, use the supplied carbide tipped masonry drill bit to drill the stud holes through the clearance holes in the plywood. Pilot holes are not necessary for wood homes, although a neater job generally results. Lift the plywood into position and then (using the special hex driver tool) drive the stainless steel stud into the wall. Repeat at each anchor location, then use the 1/4-20 wing nuts supplied to hold the storm shutter in position. Generally you will need 4 studs per window; larger windows may require more.







After the storm, and the shutters are removed, use the supplied plastic covers to protect the exposed ends of the studs. Each pack contains:

  • (25) 1/4-20 x 3-1/2" long 305 stainless steel hanger bolt studs (2-1/8" Wood threads, 1/8" unthreaded, and 7/8 Machine Threads, 1/8"L Hex for driving)
  • (25) 1/4-20 wing nuts
  • (25) plastic caps
  • (1) 7/32" diameter x 4-1/2" long masonry drill bit
  • (1) hex stud driver

    Optional 1/4-20 jig knobs (not included) measure 1-3/8" in diameter and are ideal for rapid installation without tools (and they are easier on your fingers too!) .
