Comments about Squeeeeek No More Hardwood Floor Kit w/25 Screws:
Someone has developed a product which should become an industry standard very soon. Inexpensive, easy to use, quick, effective, etc. After putting up with several squeeking boards for years, these special screws eliminated the problems in 10 munutes.

I am instsalling a new hardwood floor over a radiant heat system. During initial installation, I noticed a few areas that squeeked. They have since disapeared, but only weigh 140 pounds. Before finishing the floor, I plan to have a 360 pound friend walk the floor, and fix any squeeks with your product.

Read the instructions before using! The idea is that the head will shear off before it strips the hole. Pre-drill to avoid cracking your wood and to prevent the head from shearing off too soon, but start with a 5/64" bit. If the head still shears off too soon, twist it out with a lock grip pliers and re-dill with a 3/32" bit. If your wood cracks, drill just the top board (3/4" depth) with a 7/64" bit. When screwing, use top speed and torque. On soft wood, the hole may strip no mater what you do. In this case, don't use the spacing tool; just screw it in until the score is below the surface, then break the head off with some lock-grip pliers. Note that you can make these screws yourself: buy 2.5" SS trim heads; sawing at the top of the threads, cut half way through the shaft; screw until score is just below the surface and break off head with lock grip pliers.
Works very well.
