410 Stainless Makes these ToughNow there is a self-threading concrete fastener designed specifically for exposed exterior applications. Whether you are mounting a sign, locking down a park bench, installing a hand rail, or just fastening a bottom plate, you won’t need to worry about corrosion. Unlike most grades of stainless, the 410 series is hardenable, making it perfect for these masonry fasteners. Life is full of trade-offs, though, and these screws are not as corrosion resistant as the more common grades of stainless. It isn’t unusual for the screws to have a very light red tint after exterior exposure. Note: 5/16" hex head. This item requires a non-standard 3/16" diameter pilot hole. Made in Taiwan.

Comments about 1/4'' x 2-1/4'' Hex Stainless Steel Concrete Screws:
Great product

The 1/4" hole for this screw turned out to be best. (Had bought the odd size smaller recommended by the manufacturer drillbit but the hole was too small and resulted in a broken screw when the screw could not be screwed easily into the concrete/stone smaller than 1/4" size hole.) Possibly the smaller size than 1/4" size hole would be ok in softer material like wood or maybe porous cinderblock, but the full 1/4" hole is needed in concrete or stone.
