Comments about 1/4-20 x 1-1/2 Machine Screws, Stainless Steel, Pan Head, Square Drive:
I have a gardening cart we bought when we set up housekeeping back in the 70's. A large load capacity and with big 26" bicycle tires let me haul off an entire sawed-up tree, but the original steel fasteners rusted out pretty quickly. I did a rebuild, replacing all the rusted fasteners with stainless steel pan head machine screws and stainless tee nuts from McFeely's, in the mid 80's and now I am doing it again, here in 2013. The rebuild back in the 80's called for grinding all that rusted fastner hardware away -- what a mess. What a job! Now, here in 2013, I am doing it again. The plywood is coming apart but not the stainless steel fasteners. Teardown was so easy and I can reuse all the stainless fasteners only needing to replace the few fasteners that worked loose over the years. My only complaint is that sometime the soft stainless square drive pocket tends to cam out under heavy driving pressure.
