I have lost more tape measures over the years than I care to admit. The belt clips on most tapes tear up my pants, or take too long to reattach after taking a measurement. So I lay the tape down, and before I can reach for it again, the tape gremlins have added another to their collection. This ingenious holder clips to your belt, just like a tape measure - but you only need to do it once a day. An adapter plate you install on your tape measure with just a screwdriver then holds the tape to the belt clip with a powerful magnet. Simply snap the tape on or off the belt clip when you need it. Like magic, no more lost tapes! (The tape gremlins won’t be happy.) Unfortunately, this does not fit the new Starrett Digitape. Tape holder includes adapter plate and belt clip.

When I need a tape measure I used to keep it in a pouch on my work-belt, because clipping on/off was a hassle. With these you just get them close to your hip and they take hold. Super easy access.I got extra plates after I got the first one to mount my different tape measures on.It is a little bit larger than a tape alone, but the convenience is well worth it!

I've been hooking my tape to my jeans pocket for 40 years. Lately I've been working in a 4 foot crawl space 8 hours a day. Keeping my tape hooked to my pocket was impossible so I started looking for something else and stumbled upon this magnetic holder. It only took a little while to get use to pulling down to detach tape after so many years of pulling up. It works great!

The basic idea is wonderful.....it works great for what it's supposed to do. HOWEVER.....the only flaw it has is that the steel belt clip is too tight to the base. The end needs to be bent slightly up to allow easy hanging over the belt.
