Now Setting Up Your Table Saw for Peak Performance is Easy!
Are you disappointed with your table saw’s performance? If you notice saw marks on rip cuts, or burn marks on cross cuts, there is a very good chance your saw needs a tune up! No matter how much money you spent on your saw or even saw blade, if the miter slot and blade are not parallel, you simply will not get top notch performance. MasterGage SuperBar™ and MasterPlate™ make it easy to tune up your saw for peak performance.
First, mount the rectangular MasterPlate on your saw arbor. It is made of " toolmaker’s quality " stress-relieved aluminum plate, approximately 1/4" thick, and has both 5/8" and 1" diameter arbor holes. If you think about it, saw blades are made for cutting, not calibrating. The teeth get in the way when you are trying to square the blade to the table top, and because a blade is round, only about 5" of it is usable for alignment purposes. MasterPlate™ was designed from the start for calibration! It is rectangular, so it provides 10 unobstructed inches of calibration surface in the horizontal position, and 6-1/2 inches when vertical. Next, simply slide the SuperBar with its dial indicator in the miter slot, noting variations across the face of the blade or calibration plate. Then loosen the table top from the saw housing, shift it appropriately, and recheck the table top position until there is virtually no movement of the indicator (.002" or so). The unique SuperBarTM design places the dial indicator as close to the table top as practical. Outriggers prevent wobble, while adjustable slots insure that the bar fits snugly in the miter track. It measures approximately 4" long x 1-1/8" high x .735" wide to fit Delta style and Sears Craftsman slots. For best results, use Superbar with the optional MasterPlate Calibration standard. SuperBar and MasterPlate are made in USA, dial indicator is imported.
