Cut Plugs with a Hand-Held Electric Drill
Everyone knows it isn’t safe to cut screw plugs with a hand held drill. If you have tried it, you know that one of the cutter legs will catch on the wood before the others and the cutter will walk across the board before you have time to release the trigger. Now there is a plug cutter designed specifically for use in hand held drills. A spring loaded centering pin allows the cutter to engage all four legs without allowing it to walk across the material. The cutter is most effective when the drill is fully up to speed before you depress the spring and begin cutting the plug. However, from, ahem, personal experience, if you start cutting before the drill is at speed, the centering pin does a pretty good job keeping things from getting exciting. For best results, use these at 2500-3000 RPM. Made in USA.
