Use this topcoat for your high traffic and abused surfaces!
If you have a table top that needs to stand up to the rigors of young
children or a bar top that’s going to be used by numerous patrons, you’ll
want to use the High Performance Top Coat. A unique hybrid of urethane
and acrylic, the High Performance Top Coat provides a hard and durable
surface that can withstand scuffing, sliding and spillage. It is stabilized with
UV absorbers to maximize its performance. It is a fast drying, low odor, nonflammable
alternative to conventional lacquers. It can be brushed or sprayed.
Sanding between coats with 320 grit paper is recommended. 3 – 5 coats
provide the best protection. Allow 1 – 2 hours between coats.
High Performance Top Coats all meet the environmental GREEN guidelines set forth for Architectural, Cabinets and Furniture (EPA 40 CFR Parts 9, 59 & 63), California Wood Coatings (SCAQMD Rule
1136), Kitchen Cabinet Makers Association (ESP - Environmental Stewardship Program), and the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design). Made in USA.

Comments about General Finishes High Performance Top Coats:
I'm just a mom and I do what I can around the house so you wouldn't say I'm a professional woodworker by any stretch. However, I have refinished a few pieces of furniture and do a lot of my own house painting, wall patching, etc. You catch my drift. I've used traditional polyurethane many times. This was my first time using GF HP Top Coat. It's simply amazing. We had some new wood windows installed this summer to replace old ones. So unfortunately I had to stain them. I really hate that chemical smell which is what led me to look for a new clear coat. I selected this because of the UV stabilizers and it said it could be used on windows and trim. This stuff goes on like a dream. Yes, when you open the can it looks milky white. But trust me, it dries clear. Now, it's not odor free completely but the smell is gone quickly...It's not like having your house stink for days after using oil-based polyurethane. I used a 1" foam brush and did 3 coats. Each coat dried very quickly and I only had to do a very, very little bit of light sanding in-between coats 1 and 2 with 320 grit. In the few places where I overstepped, I just wiped it off with a clean microfiber cloth. Something else I noticed is that it doesn't have that tacky sticky feeling like oil based poly. When it dries (1 hour!) you can wipe your hand over it and it's smooth. And yes, it really does clean up with soap and water. It's just that easy.I used the "gloss" finish but it really looks like a "satin". So don't expect a super shiny high gloss like traditional oil-based polyurethanes. I was even able to do some touch ups over some old oil base poly where we had some nicks in the woodwork, etc. It sure looks nice and oh yes, I will be using more GF products in the future. This is a winner! Thank you!

Used instead of oil-based finish in raw poplar drawers. Took many coats to build up a smooth finish. Quick drying, no fumes, easy clean-up but a very thin finish. I bought gloss but the finish looked more like a satin product.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend
