Product Information

Let your creativity flow

Glaze Effects are translucent colors used to create decorative finishes and are ideal for distressing, marble, shabby chic, color washing and rag rolling effects. Use over Milk Paints for special effects. Glaze Effects may be intermixed to create custom colors or layered for a deeper, richer look. Test on hidden area to determine the desired color and effect. This Glaze is specially formulated to allow you more working time than conventional glazes. The semi-gel consistency minimizes running and dripping yet allows you to apply and wipe with ease. It can be applied with a brush, roller or sprayer. It can be top coated with General Finishes High Performance Top Coat to provide additional protection from normal wear. Made in USA.

Glaze Effects all meet the environmental GREEN guidelines set forth for Architectural, Cabinets and Furniture (EPA 40 CFR Parts 9, 59 & 63), California Wood Coatings (SCAQMD Rule 1136), Kitchen Cabinet Makers Association (ESP - Environmental Stewardship Program), and the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design). Made in USA.

Comments about General Finishes Glaze Effects:

In the last job, I mixed 3 to 1 Vandyke brown and the Pitch Black for a custom color on cherry that had been stained, seal-coated with shellac, and one coat Crystalac satin. Each previous coat sanded (400) or steel-wooled (0000). This product glides on very easily, distributes quickly with a foam brush, no drips or runs. A preliminary wipe with a cottom rag, then groomed with lambswool til all the brushmarks, etc, are gone. A very sheer coating, no teltale streaks or blotches. Good open working time, enough for a large panel (2x4'), but quickly set and ready to handle. Then, to finish, another quick rub out with 0000, vac and tack, then final coat Crystalac 50/50 satin/semigloss.
