FastCap's Metric Reverse tape measure has a rugged compact casing with a built in pencil sharpener and a lever action belt clip. Heavy-duty blade is 1" wide, 33% heavier than other tapes on the market, and has high contrast marking visibility and a dual locking system. The side of the case has an erasable note pad (for pencils only!). This is a well-made tape with one critical exception. The image on the website does not indicate that the mm graduations are recessed off the tape edge by 3 mm making it a bit difficult to take an accurate measurement. Instead of being able to line up exactly with your point of measurement you've got to cross a 3 mm wide blank white tape edge to match up with tape graduations. I've never seen a tape without the graduations going all the way to the tape edge. If you don't require being dead on then this is your tape.
Perfect for scientific measurements

My daughter is studying archeaology, and went on her first dig this summer. Scientific measurements are in metric only. Most tapes with metric in the US are dual english/metric, which can cause innacurate recording. Everyone wanted to borrow her metric-only tape - in some cases, just to use the pencil sharpener!
