True random orbit sanding from sanders that don't slow down no matter how much pressure you use! An innovative design from Fein allows for no direct connection between the motor and the pad, allowing the pad to switch direction from clockwise to counter clockwise as it orbits. True random orbit sanding results in both aggressive work and a fine finish when the right abrasives are used. This unique configuration is achieved through a series of ball bearings mounted on a weighted eccentric shaft, which also helps to remove motor vibrations almost entirely.
The Fein models also use hook and loop abrasives to make change-overs easy and improve the life of the abrasives. The units are sturdy too with a metal gear head and a fiberglass-reinforced polyamide motor housing. The 6" is perfect for most applications while the 8" (which also happens to be the first-ever electric, production model of its size) is really suitable for deck work or bottom sanding of boats. Paired with a Fein Turbo I dust extractor achieves 98% dust-free sanding.
