An innovative structural fastener system
ThruLOK is a new (patent pending) three part fastening system from FastenMaster for structural wood-to-wood with the strength of a through-bolted connection. It includes a PaddlePoint™ fastener, a LOK-Nut and an engineered washer. When properly installed there is no pre-drilling required. First put the ThruLOK washer on the screw with the teeth of the washer facing away from the screw head. Using a 1/2" drill (use and 18V if using cordless) drive the ThruLOK until the washer and hex head are just above (about 1/4") the wood and the point of the screw sticks out of the other side just a bit. Thread the ThruLOK Nut onto the point and hand tighten until the nut is flush with the wood. Tighten with the drill. Repeat to match code compliant fastening pattern. Note: Point of fastener must engage in ThruLOK-Nut to "MIN" line or beyond.

Not having to drag an additional drill with a 1/2" auger bit around makes the ThruLoks worth it. I made a template per FastenMaster's layout requirements which proved helpful. 4 of these fasteners can be installed in under 2 minutes. Tremendous product . . . now i need to get my stash of carriage bolts sold on ebay.
