Comments about EZ Stair Composite Cleat Brackets Steel (4 pair):

The EZ Stair system is a good system for sure. They make building stairs incredibly easy (provided you actually READ the enclosed instruction manual). However, these cleat brackets made for supporting the treads are a weak link. They are made cheap, flimsy metal that felt like it was going to break when I made the bend for the forward cleat. With a little ingenuity and a drill bit, I came up with a better alternative by going to the local building supply store and making my own support system out of readily available Simpson strong ties. Simpson's strong ties are made of galvanized steel which is much heavier guage than the EZ Stairs brackets.
