Comments about Gallon Sanding Sealer CrystaLac:
The first time I used these finishes was on a cherry desk and cabinet set. I applied a shellac as preparation. It definitely aided in the grain raising which is especially bad on softwoods. I then finished the desk/cabinets and it came out fine. If you like water based finishes I always recommend doing a test piece. The last time I applied it was on plywood--big mistake. If you use the finishes apply an oil base finish first. This applies to their finishes as well.I am not a particular fan of water based finishes. I like the clear and amber finishes of lacquers and oil based clear finishes.By the way, these finishes can be difficult to clean equipment and should be used in guns made for water based finishes.A friend of mine likes water based finishes based on his experiences in Alaska when they were forced to limit ventilation due to extreme cold.
