Special grooves around the body promote controlled crushing during installation. When the combined material thickness is at the low end of the grip range, annular grooves cause the rivet body to fold like an accordion as the mandrel is retracted. Multi-Grip rivets generally span the grip range covered by three, and sometimes four normal blind rivets.
