Festool has announced that the OF 2000 router (574216) has been replaced by the OF 2000 "Basic" (574268). The following outlines the differences in the two products.
- The Basic does NOT include a systainer, it is shipped in a cardboard box instead
- No 8mm collect included

- The Basic can be purchased packaged with the CT22 or CT33 dust extractors
Festool’s system approach to woodworking power tools is reflected in this new router as well. If you need to make very precise dados, edge profiles, or even joint a board, Festool’s optional guide rail adapter allows the router to make deadly straight cuts using any of the Festool guide rails. The adapter attaches quickly using two small knobs and functions similarly to the traditional router edge guide. However, this guide incorporates a micro-adjust feature that really works, making it easy to position the bit precisely where you want it - important when duplicating previous cuts. An innovative foot supports the outboard edge of the router, leaving you to concentrate on the cut, not on router position.
Many features, like Festool’s thoughtful depth control system, or handy threaded height adjustment rod, aren’t obvious until you start using the tool. The 2-9/16" plunge depth has a control system that allows you to “zero” the bit against the workpiece, set the desired cutting depth, then stop at that precise depth, even through multiple passes. You can even tweak the stop height in 1/256" increments with an extra precise fine adjuster once the stop is set. The threaded height adjustment rod allows you to easily adjust cutter height when the router is used in router table applications. Festool even includes a guide bushing which easily screws into the base plate. Made in Germany.
