Comments about #10-24 Steel Threaded Inserts:
I originally bought these for use in mdf and they work well for that purpose. I have since tried them in much harder material like red oak. What I like best is they can be driven in with an allen wrench or hex driver.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

About Me Avid Do-It-Yourselfer
Have only experimented with scrap wood at this point, but am impressed at how easy they are to install and use. I just got them yesterday. Hope to be in my wood shop tomorrow (Saturday). Have some projects that I bought them for.

Hex key installation is a benefit. Drill sizing for hardwoods is problem, slightly taper the end & lower thread height to make it easier to install. I use these inserts for jigs, furniture, shelving. I built a baseball bat rack for my son that had to ship to Alaska as a ready-to-assemble piece, & this was choice for connecters.
Service and delivery comments:
Very prompt delivery, arrived in excellent condition. I would like to other size inserts in consumer-friendly sized packaging.
