Much like porch gliders of a more relaxed time, and infinitely more attractive than the flimsy sheet metal versions sold today, this solid wood glider will grace any porch, deck, or garden. Seating size is 48" wide, by 20" deep, and the back is 21" high in the center. Plans include full size patterns of curved parts. Build the glider using oak, mahogany, redwood, even pressure treated lumber.
Using standard dimension lumber requires 2-8ft 2x8’s, 1-8ft 2x6, 1-6ft 2x6, 1-8ft 1x6, and 3-8ft 1x12’s, but most parts will allow the use of shorter material or random width boards. Requires (8) 3/8" OD x 1/4" ID flanged bronze bushings, (100) #8 x1-1/4, (100) #8 x 1-1/2, (100) #8 x 2-1/2 , and (4) #6 x 5/8 stainless steel screws, (2) 1/8" x 1" x 24" pcs of strap iron, (8) 1/4" x 2" Roundhead Stainless machine screws and nuts, 8-1/2" of 2/0 open link coil chain, and (2) 1/2" screw eyes. Our stainless steel screw kit includes all of the wood screws, along with (1) #1 and (2) #2 driver bits.
