Let it first be said that knife sharpening is an art...one that requires lots of practice to be good at. The Knife Sharp device can speed up the tedium of knife sharpening, but NOT if you have just ruined the edges on your favorite knives and have to re-sharpen them all.

Recommendation: Whether you buy this thing for yourself or buy it as a Christmas gift, you should also buy the soon-to-be-frustrated recipient several sets of cheap knives upon which to practice. You should also buy several extra sets of abrasive belts since the belts wear out rapidly and can get torn to shreds if the belt is moving toward the sharpened edge.

Ladies: If you or your guy use this device in the kitchen, it will spread a layer of fine 'grinder dust' over the surrounding area. Enjoy the clean-up!

Yes, you can use this device to sharpen a lawn mower blade. However, an angle grinder does the job much more quickly.

My favorite sharpener is still a large, ceramic oxide wet stone. I haven't ruined any knife edges with it in the past 15 years.

I like sharp knives. So far this tool fits the bill and has done well with about six knives I have sharpened so far. The big test will be on the mower blades at the end of the season. Can't wait to try it out on the big stuff.

This tool fits the bill. I spent about 2 hours going through the kitchen drawers first. Now my wife has "sharp sharp" knives. I even got a hold of my old Swiss Army knife and gave it a tune up. Can't ride to Arkansas on it anymore. Good tool.
