The best planing jobs are usually done with the power off
Of all the hand tools available, there may be none more satisfying than a hand plane.
From the first curl of wood to the final, finished surface, a hand plane just about typifies
all that is right and noble about woodworking. Footprint planes include smart features like
a gray cast iron body for long life and a stained, Beechwood handle (when pictured) that
feels right and gives comfortable and positive control. Note: Although these are part of the
Footprint line, they are made in China due to the cost of construction.

One complaint inside of a great product
from Oliver Springs, TN
I used a similar product that my grandfather in law had from his father and had to have one. This seems to have a much stronger sturdier body than the one he had and is really nice for those small adjustments to a project. The only real problem with this product is the blade; the one i received is sharpened at an angle so that it has to be inserted at an angle to get an even cut. The blade might become an issue for me later, I'm new to hand planes but I imagine with a sharpening jig it could be straightened out.
