Comments about 10 x 3/4 SPAX Wood Screws, Clear Zinc Plated Steel, Pan Head, Combo Drive:
These work great when there is a possibility of splitting and there is a problem drilling a pilot hole. I have never had thes screws split the wood, even on the face frame of 3/4 inch quarter-sawn white oak when installing hinges for a raised panel door. Thanks to McFeel's for providing a good explanation of this product and offering them in a wide range of sizes.

finally a screw for faceframe hinges which does not split the wood and has a perfect grip!
