Now there is a better way to attach fiber cement board siding and trim, or cement backer board to wood sheathing or studs: Use stainless steel Square Drive Screws! Fastening the new fiber cement board products (including siding and backer boards) with standard drywall screws (which can break easily) or nails (which tend to back out over time) can be difficult, and cause problems after installation. Do it right and forget about it! Aggressive nibs under the head of these cement board screws helps them countersink flush (crucial when installing siding), and a self drilling point helps them penetrate tough cement board easily. In addition, they have a deep, aggressive thread for superior holding power, and the corrosion resistance of 316 stainless steel. What could be better? Made in Taiwan.

Comments about #8 x 2-1/4'' 316 Stainless Steel Fiber Cement Board Screws:
SS316 is softer than deck screw steel. Square slot strips. Have to use countersik bit to setscrew flush. Will not cut head flush without striping slot. Works well if careful to keep bit square and under pressure.
