These Cut Thread Solid Brass Square Drive Screws are ideal for installing solid brass cabinet and door hardware. As soft as brass is, you need all the advantages of square drive to avoid damaging the screws, the hardware, or the woodwork! Since they are solid brass, the screws are easily buffed to a high gloss. Just spray them with a quick coat of clear lacquer to preserve the shine. Made in China or Taiwan.

Essential for restoring antique wood/canvas canoes made in Canada..Love working with the square drive, but will only use a hand bit not to strip the pre-drilled holes...great source for supplies

Comments about #8 x 1-1/4'' Flat Head Brass Square Drive Cut Thread:

I ordered these (and other brass screws) to make jigs that would not damage a chisel or plane blade with an accidental strike. What I got was MUCH BETTER. These ARE brass screws that are soft enough to protect my tools, but they are also beautiful enough to use exposed as an accent or while replacing brass fittings in an antique (if you do not mind the square drive our ancestors were sadly lacking).

One word of caution. Set your driver drills to a low torque setting. I have stripped a couple of these with a high torque drill and hard wood, the driver bits are just SO much harder than these lovely screws.
