Comments about #6 x 1-1/4'' Black Oxide Truss Head Screws:

I have been using these screws in numerous applications, including to fasten aluminum extrusion to steel. The very aggressive thread bites deep into the aluminum (pilot hole is required) and does not strip out like a conventional sheet metal screw. They can be tightened up REALLY tight - tighter than if I had tapped a thread into the aluminum.

I use them for fastening handles to plywood, The black oxide coating suits perfectly the application, and they drive in as easily as an auger point/type 17 screw (the point on the pocket hole screws.) They do not strip out easily, and again can be cranked down really tightly.

I wish that I could get them in bigger sizes!

Fast becoming a catch all screw for me!

Comments about #6 x 1-1/4'' Black Oxide Truss Head Screws:

When I found myself living in an older home with well dried very hard wood combined with cheap, low quality screws that came with items to be installed, I would have to run to the hardware store to find replacement screws that would tear up the heads when I tried to drive them in the old wood, even with pilot holes and lube. Then I discovered McFeely's screws and the increase in quality, along with the square drive head make installations and assemblies so much easier. I have even found it helps assembly of pre fab items with softer wood if I use McFeely's square drive screws, so I try to keep some of various sizes around to make projects go quickly.
