You’ll be amazed at the difference an auger point makes on a stainless steel square drive screw. Great for use with pressure treated wood or premium materials like redwood and wester red cedar because they are truly self-drilling. Passivated type 305 stainless steel provides even more corrosion resistance than the usual type 304 stainless (a bit of nickel really helps). Be sure to test or predrill when you install at the end of a board. Requires a #2 Driver Bit. Note the non-standard head diameters. Made in Taiwan. Head diameter: .344

Comments about #6 x 1'' Auger Point 305 Stainless Steel Screws:
I used both the #6x1 and #8x1 while making cedar plant stands for our green house. They held well and did not strip out (except like any wood screw will do when over torqued). While some of the square drive holes were tighter than others, the bit released easily when they were driven home.

I have a #2 square head driver and half the screws heads were to tight. The hold was not very good and McFeelys should be embarassed to sell such a poor product. I have used other products with good results and have been a good customer, but this I hope was just poor, poor product. I used to make an outdoor planter box made of cedar and had go to phillips head 1" to finish.. They held and drove very nicely.
